The first Five was a self-regulation event for caregivers and children aged 0-5. The event focused on the fundamentals of children's self-regulation and taught caregivers how to develop the skills themselves and instill them in their children. The event provided an opportunity to bring awareness to the Regional Office of Education and invite them into our new building.
My strategy for the First Five event was to reach our audience through as many channels as possible. I knew this event would benefit our community and had the perfect content to be well-received and popular.
The Birth to Five event would become the gateway to events held at our new location. We wanted parents and community members to know ROE #33 is the best place for free or low-cost opportunities for their children.
I started by creating a strategy with our early child program for social media, radio, and local libraries. I dropped off flyers to local libraries in the four counties the Regional Office of Education serves. I secured radio spots for the event hosts and utilized a Facebook event page with paid ads to drive awareness.
Using an event page with paid advertising proved to be the most effective way to drive interested parents to the Birth to Five event. Not only did it bring people to the event, but it also brought engaged audience members to our main Facebook page.

Even though it was our first event in the new building the turnout was astounding!
The Birth to Five event was a learning opportunity that taught me the value of event marketing on Facebook and reaching out to local contacts to initiate word-of-mouth.
